6/20/05 I was diagnosed with an AVM (Arterio Venous Malformation), a neuro-illness that causes me to have fits. On my second appointment with my neuro surgeon we went through the list of narcotics I was using at the time – (marijuana) With that she gave me a sly look, and said ‘off the record Mr. ____, this will actually reduce your blood pressure and can only be beneficial for your epilepsy. But I didn't tell you that.’

6/23/05 A long time ago, I took a college class in drug use - it was about street drugs, not pharmaceutical drugs, I learned that, at one time, marijuana was legal and was prescribed by MDs and dispensed by pharmacists for a variety of health problems - you know: HTN, insomnia, glaucoma, asthma, etc. I was told that the government decided to impose a $25.00 tax on MDs who prescribed it and a$35.00 tax on pharmacists who dispensed it. In protest, both groups elected to stop dealing with it. (This was facilitated by the recent introduction of Rauwolfia for HTN, Barbiturates for insomnia and other new drugs for some of the other problems previously treated with marijuana). In response, Pres. Harriman included marijuana in his Narcotics Act of 1914: It was called the Harriman Act. They lumped it in as a class 4 narcotic, meaning that there was no medical use for it, even though it's not a narcotic, and no one had any indication that it was harmful, in any way. In the class, we were shown pictures, taken during the early part of the century, of children smoking a joint - which, we were told, they could purchase for 5 cents, OTC, at any pharmacy, perfectly legally - they were called ‘muggles.’ (As an aside - we used to play a card game called ‘muggles’ when I was a child). We were told that it has remained on this list ever since, even though it is not a narcotic and doesn't have the deleterious effects of the other drugs on the list.

6/18/05 You didn't mention the most important reason why there is a continuing battle against legalization of marijuana, that is because it actually is used to treat sick people with pain successfully and with no serious side effects, something the legal drug industry hasn't accomplished with all their patented expensive crap they call medication. They don't want to loose their chokehold on the billions of dollars they make with this phony medication that could be replaced with an herb anyone can grow in their backyard. They are the real culprits in this.

6/18/05 Actually, the billionaires don't just want to remain billionaires: they
want to make the world completely dependent on oil because they control
oil production. It also makes the world depend on the middle east where
most of the oil is. They want WWIII starting in the Middle East and oil
dependency will be what kicks it off. They don't just want to be rich, they want to have a permanent, irrevocable world dictatorship. My idea is to get the "water car" (IE. hydrogen powered cars using water as a fuel…it is possible and being suppressed by oil companies) being used at the grass roots level. A gasoline engine can be converted over.

6/18/05 I have a lot of respect for cannabis as I have used it medically for a
spinal injury for several yrs recently, when all else failed, as doctors gave me narcotic drugs to relieve pain, and these drugs never worked, and I
was in such serve pain even with their drugs. Cannabis was the only pain
reliever that worked. I have done a bit of research myself, and found that cannabis is listed under a narcotic and this must be taken off the list that The United states has placed it as narcotic as opium, heroin, cocaine is totally ridiculous and bogus. I feel that if it was taken of the list and proved to the DEA, FDA, or whoever else that it isn't a narcotic then we can get some headway on this wonderful, helpful plant. If it wasn't for cannabis I wouldn't have healed. Liquor on the other hand does severe damage to young minds and adults, many car accidents and deaths, are attributed to liquor. And of course cigarettes are cancer causing and kills millions a year, and so this world we live in is turned upside down. The AMA is the worst, the most horrendous of all because they encourage the doctors to prescribe drugs that lead to the deterioration of the body. Yes, it is a conspiracy, from the beginning, that the corporations don't want hemp to be grown, if they did the logging industry would be wiped out. I live in southern Oregon and it is the biggest industry here, and they want to cut down even burnt out forests. They have no respect whatsoever for
our forests, or our Earth, they are the scum of the Earth. Instead, they can
heal the Earth by growing hemp and replacing the old trees that took a 100
years to grow. They have cut redwoods down and that is why there are so
little left in this part of our country. It is a sin, a sin against the mother herself, Earth. If only people will become enlightened and not live in fear, or how about the religious fanatics that say it leads to sin. Oh please, so because of this, this is why cannabis is so misunderstood, and it's refreshing to see your article. I have read many before yours about the use of hemp throughout my lifetime and it is truly a misunderstood plant, with all it's ridiculous propaganda. Why is it that the government has to get involved in telling it's tax payers what they can and cannot do with their lives. But to make this wonderful plant illegal it just goes to show you that it's a corporate conspiracy and that is all it is! Corporations have ruined our country so badly, they are into every aspect of our lives, from the water we drink to the air we breathe, into the officials we elect as president, and look who we didn't even elect and they cheated big time as well.

6/18/05 In the late 70's, the only reason one could see for such a virulent chase after potheads was its use as a pretext to build a huge police force just in case US democracy turned into something else. Over and above threatening some billionaires' billions, hemp threatens our dependence on a very centralized club for a zillion things, the first being energy, this in turns giving those few huge manipulative powers. This works just the same in those dictators where money is much less of motivation than power. Why would ‘the system’ want an inoffensive, natural, home growable, non-taxable stress reliever and sense-opener around when a huge part of their activities is precisely the artificial boosting of the citizenry's stress level?

6/19/05 I'm 41 years old victim of Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that kill people usually around 32 years old. I have the worst type of genetic mutation but still alive, at the amazement of my Doctor. The reason? Maybe HEMP! I use it in a moderate way, around 2-3 times a week, usually eating it, and the benefit of that medicine is very good for me. Cystic Fibrosis kills people by pneumonia, the mucus too good for bacteria growing. An effect of hemp is drying mucus secretion so it kills bacteria by starvation. Even better: an antioxidant property of hemp that prevent lung tissue degradation. Another characteristic of Cystic Fibrosis is destruction of the digestive system, especially pancreas, stomach, liver and intestine...the whole thing. That is appetite inhibiting. I'm often eating because of holy hemp. It avoids me from losing too much weight and helps
my defense against the constant lung infection. If my doctor knew the truth, he'd surely start hemp harvesting for sure!

I am and old fuck and have been around the hemp game for quite awhile and know most of the guys still making waves. I like your plan of keeping the cannabis family intact. I was a hemp purist, but after many battle scars, I believe the fastest way to get our farmer growing industrial hemp is to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana. In Hemp We Trust.

6/20/05 Quite some time ago, I read a medical report on M.J. It stated that cannabis operated in a capacity that stanched the lower synapses of thought so that the major tributaries were able to operate more effectively. Thus, so many inspiring deductions might be reached when the concentration was not distracted by the countless tributaries. I enjoyed your article and 'openness' to thought, that I thought perhaps, my perusals might prove to be of interest to you. It is a given fact that many native tribes believe that certain plants elevate man's consciousness. I think the 60's owes itself to the theory that when groups of peoples imbibe in sharing the 'peace pipe' (if you will) that it opens the receptors in their brains to a collective consciousness that promote and understands the concepts of the futileness of war and the 'enlightenment' of all things being joined. A higher vibrational awareness, (if you will once again), that this is not conducive to the government managing the herd. It is my understanding that the Hessians were so named because they consumed hashish before they led their attacks. Granted this seems an exception of violence that is never associated with cannabis, but the gist of bring it up is that they believed that it 'enjoined' their thoughts, together.

6/20/05 I am a Disabled Veteran who spent 17 years taking the VA's Medication. I moved to Arizona, and a Pima Indian Medicine Man gave me an 'herb' to use as a tea to lower my blood pressure. Within 3 weeks it had
gone from 210/146 to 130/70. Obviously, I quit the Government Medication, and I now participate in the interesting hobby of home gardening of herbal cures for the ills of mankind!! 6/23/05…this is false. There are several plants that appear completely differently. For example, many wild herbs/shrubs are dioecious; female mullein, a wild herb used medicinally, grows to be several feet tall, while the male stays low to the ground…that is the case for many wild herbs actually. So, your statement is false. Plant species with separate male and female individuals are termed dioecious and include such species as holly, kiwi, yew, juniper, ginkgo, date palm, asparagus, and persimmon. Only about 4% of plants species are dioecious. The large majority of plant species are bisexual, bearing both male and female parts on the same individual plant.

6/30/05…love that you wrote this article, it makes me want to cry. I had an idea that all of this was going on but I didn't know how bad it was and how recent the illegalization of hemp was. Is there anything we can actually do? I heard Dupont and the Government signed a contract saying that Dupont was the main distributor of plastics for the government for something like 70-99 years.

6/30/05 I just read your article about hemp, and it is brilliant. I'm a smoker both recreationally and for medical use. I am bipolar and when I smoke I am calmer then I am on my pills. I also have fibromyalgia and when in pain I grab my trusty friend Pot; it helps me function and eat. If I didn't have it I would be dead years ago, some days I can hardly make it down the stairs because of the ache and pains in my joints. Also, I suffer from severe migraines where I can't even open my eyes because I am light sensitive then my head pounds. I have been on many narcotics from vicodin to oxycottin and they all make me feel worse then smoking a damn joint. Only in America would a plant so beneficial to mankind, make it the most dangerous ‘drug’ in all the land. If I didn't go score I would be in pain and would never be able to walk out to get my mail. My fiancé gets upset since I can't work but she knows I can't help it. I want to work. I want to be the breadwinner of the family, but physically I cannot maintain standing or more than a few moments before I feel like I am passing out because of the pain. I went to numerous doctors and told them that pot helps me all of them said since I live in Ohio they cannot do anything for me besides narcotics…but I cannot smoke a joint…that is rubbish in my book.

7/20/05 I appreciate the effort you've (obviously) put in compiling this report, and I must say, it's not often I find a report/article arguing the benefits of C. sativa that is coherent, readable, and not full of spelling & grammar mistakes, so this page is definitely getting bookmarked! Cannabis seeds contain all of the fatty acids necessary for sustaining humans (hence, ‘essential’) and in all the right proportions. Although I was not aware of hemp oil's cholesterol clearing abilities.

7/31/05 I read your article and completely agree. It has been something I've known about and been preaching about for some time now. I thought however, you would indulge us a bit more and go deeper into the conspiracy theory. I don't know if you have thought about this before, but after all the research I have done, it is my opinion that JFK was assassinated over hemp. He was a known user for his back pain, he fired Anslinger as soon as he got into office and it was said he was going to legalize it in his 2nd term. He never made it to his 2nd term. Maybe you can dig a bit more on your end and see what you come up with to support this theory of mine. It makes sense, don't you think? Keep educating people one day at a time…it's our only shot.

9/6/05 I've known for some time pot is good. Its pretty obvious when you can smoke 15 joints in a night and can still drive, talk, think, entertain people, play a sport, and on and on. You see, you can't overdose, its not possible...seriously think about it, you cannot indulge in any other drug like that (although it’s not a drug) and get away with it. Alcohol...never, you'd die, in one night you'd die, cocaine...about two hours you'd die, heroin first hit you can die, too much coffee can kill you that day! 9/17/05 …the bit about Hemp seeds being the only natural supply of 2 essential fatty acids is not quite correct. Soya beans provide the same essential fatty acids, but with the increase in the worlds temperature caused by global warming the soya plant will be killed off, as it cannot survive in hotter conditions. Whereas hemp thrives on warmer conditions and as a result its growth cycle will shorten, cleaning the environment even quicker than it already can. Thanks again for the very well written piece

11/18/05 You may want to update your commentary for the paragraph starting with, ‘Today, our planet is in desperate trouble’…where you have written, ‘we have used up 80% of our oil reserves.’ The actual truth that the oil giants do not want anyone to know is that most ‘non producing’ oil fields (for example, Derrick Island off Louisiana) have been found to have mysteriously refilled themselves after closing them down. This is because the vast majority of oil is not biotic but abiotic. The planet’s crust produces billions of new gallons of crude annually and this is refilling the fields pumped out in almost every case. That is why Saudi Arabia just doubled the estimate of its known reserves over its predictions of 10 years ago. The wells keep refilling themselves due to planetary mechanics. Biotic oil is a discredited theory. There was never enough biomass in any prehistoric period to produce the amount of petroleum we have already consumed on this planet to date.

We're hiring a litigation attorney (as opposed to our ‘criminal’ attorney) and we're going to start suing cities, counties, LEO and prosecutors. 1/7/06 Dear Joyce and Dave, This is actually more for Joyce...I am a relatively new listener, and I usually agree with most everything you guys say, but I think you missed a very important point in your interview with Doug Yurchey, which I just listened to on the GCN archive of your program. At the end, you (Joyce) were upset that he had not engaged you more about the ‘health’ aspects of hemp. In my opinion, the point Mr. Yurchey was making (and I hope he will correct me if I am wrong about any of this) is that the most important health benefits come from smoking (or otherwise consuming) hemp/cannabis plant material which contains high levels of the active ingredients (THC, etc.) The higher the level of active ingredients, the more medicinal and beneficial it is. This is highly effective medicine, with no negative side effects, which is being denied to people in desperate need because of a pack of lies!

This is a perfect example of problem/reaction/solution (Hegelian dialectic), where a problem was deliberately created, which never really existed (that ‘marijuana’ made people behave badly in various ways), so that a desired solution could be imposed (making hemp illegal). This was accomplished (obviously) by those who stood to benefit economically from banning hemp. First, they tricked people by changing the name from ‘cannabis’ or ‘hemp,’ which people knew well and loved, to ‘marijuana,’ which was then demonized with made-up newspaper articles, in order to frighten the people into outlawing what was certainly their most valuable resource. Joyce, I am afraid you are still brainwashed by the government (+/or globalist...) propaganda on this topic, which is surprising to me considering you are aware of everything else that is going on. This was an obvious economic conspiracy which remains, to this day, a total fraud. By banning hemp, with ‘marijuana’ as the excuse, the industrialists (globalist) involved were able to insure that the economy would be petroleum-based and thus in their control. I also noticed that several of the people who were instrumental in banning hemp in 1937 (according to Jack Herer's "The Emperor Wears No Clothes") were also apparently involved in a (failed) plan to overthrow the US government in 1934 and set up a fascist state in the US (according to John Buchanan's research in the National Archives). In my opinion, the outlawing of hemp by these people amounted to nothing less than an economic coup d'etat, and the same people (globalists...) and their corporations are still in control today because they rigged the economy of the entire planet in their favor with this fraud.

The health benefits of hemp oil and hemp seed as food are only one aspect of the story. The fact that THEY still arrest and imprison people for any use whatsoever of this amazing plant is totally outrageous. I believe this is what needs to be revealed to the public, and anyone incarcerated for any cannabis offense needs to be released immediately and reparations paid for this outrageous injustice, which is also part of what is justifying and funding the Gestapo system we see emerging around us.

BTW, I read Jack Herer's book (several times) in or around 1990 and it changed my entire outlook on history, government, industry and the media. I highly recommend it!

3/20/06 I have known for a long time that Hemp is a wonderful plant that could be the salvation for a country such as Haiti. I am involved with an orphanage there which houses 200 boys, schools 500 boys and girls, has a farm, etc. I feel so strongly that growing Hemp in all of Haiti would be their salvation, for all the reasons you have stated, but every time I mention this, the first words to come out is - marijuana! How to get past this? I have printed out your information about Hemp to give to Father Luc Jolicoeur, who is the head of this orphanage. I have discussed this with him, but had no real factual evidence of its value. Maybe this is one small step in the right direction! Thank you!

3/20/06 How does it work if a person is on high blood pressure medicine? I know how it worked before the high blood pressure. Does it conflict with the medicine? The medicine opens up the blood vessels...doesn't the cannabis tend to close rather than expand the vessels? Very curious about this...The blood pressure medicine surely isn't taking away the tension.

Although I also recognize this wonderful plant's specific characteristics that make it so valuable and multifunctional. 8/25/06 I recently made a few discoveries (for myself) about Cannabis. I recently went to Holland on vacation. That just made me wonder why it was illegal here. (I live in Colorado) People from all over the world went there to smoke and have a good time. Everyone was like a friend to me, everyone was so friendly and laid back I was wondering why people have been so threatened about it. I could walk into any coffee shop and start up a conversation with anyone! I came to the conclusion that it makes people friendly, I made more friends in the one month that I was in Holland, than in my entire 24 years of existence beforehand. The entire world is fighting and destroying itself. But people from all over the world get along fine in Holland! I saw an Israeli guy laughing and having a good time while smoking with a Lebanese guy. I joined them for a conversation and a joint and we were all getting along fine bullshitting about politics and how stereotypes were made because of governments. I honestly can't see how Cannabis is bad in any way. People lose the urge to fight each other, but have the urge to make friends and appreciate the more sensitive and loving aspects that this world once had. Now it's just a shithole run by huge corporations. It's safe to say that this world is run by greed and lust for power and control. Thank you so much for making this site and trying to get people to realize that they are slaves to the people with power.

10/2/06 I support the cultivation and usage of hemp and cannabis and to read those facts just made me sick. I can't understand why our government which is so ‘nature-loving’ could outlaw a plant that shows more potential than any other natural substance on Earth. It is just mind-boggling how a government can make a plant illegal. It just doesn't make sense to me. Nature has always been around and always will be, so how does a group of a few rich individuals turn on nature and say that it is illegal for this plant to be grown? They have no right to judge nature or say what is good or bad. They have absolutely no power to do that.

Some of the things I'd heard before on various fact-oriented documentaries, other things I knew from my personal experience with the plant. I did, however, learn things I'd not known previously. I didn't check all of your references because a lot of them sounded believable, but I did check the one that claimed that Henry Ford's first T-Model was built entirely out of hemp. Your reference, Popular Mechanics 1941, states clearly that the vehicle made partially out of hemp resulted from 12 years of research, long after the first T-Model was released, and it also states that it was composed of 70 percent cellulose fibers from wheat straw, hemp and sisal plus 30 percent resin binder. 12/10/06 Keep up the good investigative work, Doug, and I may use some of your findings in my article (thank you for including the sources). I would appreciate that…Weed is unprocessed and natural, as opposed to other processed drugs, but you know that. I have eaten hemp seeds and have even had hemp oil and see the unspoken benefits from them even before I was planning to research the subject.

Your information is strong, even stronger when one lets oneself believe that the Body belongs to the Soul and that no one should tell you that you can’t smoke pot (should I say 'smoke hemp'? I won’t say the m-word). But what frustrates me is that our American society is to the point that the masses probably won’t even listen. And sadder, other countries, it seems to me at least, made pot illegal to copy America, b/c America is ‘successful’ and they did it, so it must be good for them too, right? HA HA! He's in his early forties, I'm 65, so I know there is a lot that he is not aware of simply because of his age, he said he is going to send it to a lot of people he knows, he is an ex-co-worker of mine, I'm now retired.

12/19/06 I knew hemp could replace our dependence on natural resources, but what I did not know is how much better off we'd be using hemp to make paper and textiles alone. I guess I knew this in the back of my mind but until I read some of your figures and examples, it never really struck me. Also, I never knew that hemp seeds provided such nutrition and practical use. I mean being a smoker myself, I never really think of the use of hemp seeds. They are more of a hassle if you know what I'm saying. 2/2/07 I have just been reading your theory behind why Hemp is illegal – it makes fascinating reading. We already knew some of the history but your article is brilliant and I will be sharing it and spreading the word. As a medical user for many years, I would not be here without it. I was a vegetable on the prescribed medication and don’t remember 2 whole years of my life while I was on morphine. Now I live a full and active life, running a business and bringing up a family. Is it too late to change views? I do hope not because it has so much to offer.

3/13/07 Hemp was used for vital ropes for thousands of years, until Dupont and the Third Reich introduced a variety of polymers that completely replaced it and just about destroyed the hemp industry overnight. You're probably right that the American Mussolini worshippers of the 1920s put Anslinger on the case and got hemp shut down. The 1920s saw the launch of mass consumerism in the USA, a model for later versions across the world, culminating in today's ‘globalization’ led by global commercial television and pop music. All the rage in the 1920s was the new beat music, jazz, the forerunner of global pop music, which was invented and played by Afro-Americans. The white racists who controlled the USA did not want liberated white women to miscegenate with blacks, so they had alcohol banned and then marijuana, a drug widely used in the jazz music industry. As with so many aspects of American life, I think the banning of marijuana (hemp) can be traced back to white racism for its root cause.
